2014
End of the Year Race Report Blog PostI rode all races (and training rides) in 2014 on a Trek Farley Fatbike, no suspension, upgraded with HED Big Deal Carbon Wheels, and running a 1x10 OneUp / Shimano drivetrain.
24 Hours of Rapelje
Race ReportStrava
A 24 hour solo mountain bike race, with a 11 mile lap. You ride the lap as many times as you can in 24 hours. In 2014, as always, there was a rain delay. Nevertheless, I rode ten laps, over 100 miles. Record keeping is terrible at Rapelje, but I'm guessing I was the number one fatike soloist. Don't know though. I do know it was my best result in four tries at Rapelje.
Tatanka 100
Blog ReportStrava
This race kicks ass. I loved it. This was maybe my favorite race. So bummed I couldn't finish. Torn sidewall 47 miles in was a bad blow, but overall THIS RACE ROCKS!!! If you have a chance, do it!!
2014 was all about the rain. More than half the field DNS'd (Did Not Start)!!!. So, just by starting, I cracked the top half! Had a great time.
Maah Daah Hey 100
Blog PostStrava
Again, this race rocks. What is it with the Dakotas and kick butt races? I don't know, but they have them, in spades. This was probably my favorite race ever. And my best result: a clear first place, by over two hours. Yeah Maah Daah Hey!!!
Dakota 50
Blog PostStrava
What a scene! Dakota 50 is a great ride, a great party, and a great race. Spearfish is a really, really great town. It's very underrated. I could live in Spearfish without a doubt. The Dakotas area really cool states. If you don't like riding a bicycle in the Dakotas, then we don't have much to talk about. I loved it.
And I won again. There was no official category, but I was the 1st fatbiker.
Dry Creek 80 Gravel Grinder
Strava.81.8 miles on gravel roads in whipping, fierce, bone-chilling wind. You have to either love biking, or be insane, to enjoy this. Luckily, I'm both. Only fatbike finisher as far as I know, but no official results on this race, like Rapelje.
