Shrek's Ready to Roll

So, it's been a hell of a term at work. More on that later. We have a break coming up soon, when I can update some of the stories I've been wanting to remember. There's been a lot going on:
* The Kid's Coloring Contest: a strange little slice of Malaysia
* Staff meetings about staff meetings
* GST
* Rose changing schools
* Saw a cobra in the jungle
These are just some of the things I've wanted to get down on paper, and will soon.

Green Ride

In the meantime though, back to biking. I've been riding a lot, getting in better shape, and there is a race on the 31st of May I'm going to do. Shrek is ready. He's even plated up.

Malaysian Setup

Shrek is still setup more or less the same way as his last race. After a few hand numbing months on an aluminum handlebar, after Air Emirates stole Shrek's lasts carbon bar, I've gone back to a nice carbon handlebar, this one a Niner 740 mm wide carbon flat bar. Still miss my Oury Grips, but enjoying the second best thing I could find, Profile grips very similar to the Ourys.
Otherwise two small changes. Went from a 30 tooth chainring to a 32 tooth oval chainring. I can't tell the difference as much as I thought I would. It's very subtle in practice. So far I like it though.
Also added the T.O.G.S. style barends. Like them a lot. They need some subtle changes, like rounded edges, and a stronger tightening system. Otherwise, it provides a nice option for another grip, without the bulk of old school bar ends.

Stoked to Ride

Basically, the same old Shrek. My favorite bike ever. Love this guy. A beast. And we've had some great rides already this year. Tomorrow we'll have another one, this time with 450 plus people.
