In Defense of NY Resolutions
A lot of
people rag on resolutions these days. They’re not as popular as they used to
be, some people are downright scornful of them.
Not me. I still love them. Maybe one of the reasons is that I’ve been successful lately. In the past three or four years
I resolved to wrap up 3LB v2 successfully, wrap up InGear (my bike project),
lose 45 pounds, go from finishing to winning bike races. There were also some personal
ones that went well.
Anyway, 2016, here we go:
2016 NYR 1: Nail Two Races
(Win Fatbike + Top 20 Tatanka; Win Fatbike + Top 10 Maah Daah Hey)
Only doing
two races this year; I can’t afford many more, not just financially but because
of schedule, family, etc. . . Also nice to really focus though, I did that last
year with good initial results. Plus, these are huge races, with 80 and 106
miles of mountain biking, tons of climbing, so I’ll need time to recover, a few
weeks at least.
2016 NYR 2: Homeschool Project Time
(Take on more projects with Rose)
Rose is
getting to a better spot with her fundamentals. It’s time to start taking on
some cool bigger projects instead of just teaching skills.
2016 NYR 3: Camping
(Camp more)
We’ve been
in Absarokee on and off now for seven years. Owned our house here for that
long. But we haven’t been camping much. Not since we left Cooke City. One or
two small trips a year lately. That changes this year.
At least
one trip a month from March to October. Eight trips this year. Concrete goal.
Twenty nights.
